A DAY IN YORK

11 December 2016

When I lived in Manchester, a day trip to York was always high on my to do list for it’s pretty shops and houses. I recently found myself in the North East for a day (long story!) and couldn’t resist another visit. With it’s Christmas markets and rows of unique shops along the Shambles and around the city, I had planned to do some pressie shopping, but I hadn’t quite anticipated just how busy it would be. Being ‘Black Friday’ weekend didn’t help! In the end I spent hours just getting lost in the maze of streets and alleyways.

Best Bit : watching and smelling the fudge being prepared through the window at Roly’s Fudge Pantry
Food : lunch was a yummy hog roast roll with all the trimmings from The York Roast Co.
Top Tip : no visit to York is complete without a stop at Betty’s Tea Room, but be prepared to queue!
Favourite Shops : So many to choose from, but I love The Imaginarium on Blake Street for quirky gifts, and Grey Bear on Bridge Street for vintage finds.
