You might have noticed I’ve been a little quiet on here for the past few months. Well, there have been a few changes! I am delighted to announce that we are expecting a new addition to our family come September. Not only that, but we have decided to leave London city life behind, and head back up North to Scotland, where we both grew up. The past few months have been a flurry of estate agents, packing boxes and bubble wrap, but once we were a bit more settled we decided to treat ourselves to an impromptu afternoon in my favourite city – Edinburgh. There’s a lot to see and do in Scotland’s capital city, but with only a couple of hours to spare (and an ever expanding bump that rules out endless wandering!) we strolled up the Royal Mile, had a quick lunch at The Outsider Restaurant, and browsed the pretty shops of Victoria Street and the Grassmarket. This is one place I’ll definitely be visiting more now that we’re back up in Scotland, and I can’t wait to be able to experience the Edinburgh Fringe this Summer.
Best Bit : wandering along the Royal Mile, watching all the street entertainers.
Food : we had a lovely, very reasonable, lunch at The Outsider Restaurant, on George IV Bridge, just off the Royal Mile.
Top Tip : don’t forget to pick up a bottle of Edinburgh Gin, which is distilled in the city. I would highly recommend the Rhubarb and Ginger edition!
Favourite Shops : the Red Door Gallery on Victoria Street is definitely worth a visit for art prints and creative gifts.
